The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) announced that Afghanistan has been the most dangerous country for journalists over the past three years.
A report released by UNESCO stated that Afghanistan and Mexico were the most dangerous countries for journalists last year.
The report said that 13 journalists were killed in each of the countries in 2016.
Yemen, Iraq and Syria were consecutively ranked the third, fourth, fifth.
The report added that 930 journalists were killed between 2006-2016 around the world.
UNESCO published the report ahead of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists (IDEI). “At least 102 journalists were killed in 2016 around the world,” the report reads.
