Toryalai Tahere, deputy provincial council of Herat, said that security situation in some districts of the province is dreadful and Taliban militants have been forcing residents into paying them Ushr and Zakat.
He added that the districts under high security threats are Gulran, Kashk Kohna, Robat Sange, Shendand, Chesht Sharif, Ghoryan, and Kahsan.
Tahere claimed that security forces have not launched operations to clear the districts of insurgents this year.
Meanwhile Jailani Farhad, provincial governor’s spokesman, said that Afghan security forces have launched air and ground operations to crack down on Taliban insurgents in Chesht Sharif and Shendand districts.
