Security officials in Laghman said that a military operation codenamed ‘Selab 1/8’ was launched in Alisheng district. A press release from Selab 201 Corps stated that 56 Taliban insurgents were killed and 30 injured over the past few days. The statement added that Trang, Shemram, Achikzai, Islam Abad, Karpa, Gargar, Shakarman, Sorkh Tapa, Kranjawa, and Alisheng Kahna areas were cleared of insurgents. The statement did not provide figure of casualties among Afghan security forces. Taliban militants are yet to comment.
