US Lawmakers will be pressing for more details on President Donald Trump’s Afghanistan strategy when the military’s top brass head before the Senate Armed Services Committee today. US Defense Secretary James Mattis and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford are slated to testify on Afghanistan at the Dirksen Senate Office Building. In August, Trump rolled out his strategy for South Asian, including Afghanistan. Analysts continue to highlight its impact on peace and stability in the region. Among the Major changes trump shared was his plans to put more pressure on Pakistan to target terrorist safe heavens within its borders and called on India to contribute more to the fight in Afghanistan.
