President Ashraf Ghani met with British Minister of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Mark Field yesterday. A press release from ARG (Presidential Palace) stated that both sides exchanged views on various topics, including the US strategy of Afghanistan and South Asia, peace and stability in the region and Afghanistan, upcoming elections, transit and trade, and other regional affairs. For his part, Mark Field, said its country had always been beside Afghanistan people and would also remain as such in the future. “We are going to continue our support and assistance in different arenas to Afghanistan. We also back the new US strategy on Afghanistan and South Asia.” The statement quoting Ghani stated that as a result of the US strategy, the environment changed and fresh opportunities took shape for Afghanistan that would be achieved in collaboration with international partners in order for ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan and beyond.
