Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, leader of Hizb-e-Islami, once again called for peace negotiations with Taliban and said that the closure of their political office in Qatar will be in vain. A press release from Hizb-e-Islami stated that Hekmatyar expressed his opinion while visiting a number of tribal elders in Kabul. The statement quoting Hekmatyar stated that Taliban’s political office in Qatar is a good address for establishing contact with the group to discuss a peace deal with them. Hekmatyar added that continuation of war with Taliban is not a solution and they must be invited for peace negotiation. Earlier it was reported that both the US and Afghan presidents had discussed the issue of closing Taliban’s office in Qatar on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
