Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said they will host a meeting of the International Contact Group on Afghanistan in Moscow. Addressing a press conference yesterday he stated that the meeting will be held on October 11. He stressed that Russia wants the conflict in Afghanistan to be over and support the Afghan-led peace process. Lavrov asserted that the Afghan conflict can only be solved through discussion and dialogue and military options for the end of the war will be in vain. Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs is yet to comment on the meeting. Previous meeting of the International Contact Group on Afghanistan was held in Saudi Arabia in the presence of delegations from more than 50 countries last year.
