As many as 254 civilians were killed and 366 others injured in conflicts in Afghanistan last month, the Civilian Protection Advocacy Group (CPAG) said yesterday. A statement from the CPAG stated that civilian casualties remained high in August. Most of the casualties happened in Kabul, Herat, Helmand and Nangarhar provinces, the statement added. CPAG said 71 people suffered casualties in foreign forces air strikes in Nangarhar, Herat and Logar provinces in August. The statement further stated that civilian casualties mostly resulted from car, suicide bomb attacks, air strikes, targeted killings, missile attacks, landmines and armed clashes. The group urged foreign forces, Afghan forces, Taliban and other militant groups to protect civilians’ lives during the conflict.
