Security officials in Uruzgan said that 10 Taliban insurgents were killed and one prominent commander was arrested in an operation conducted by Afghan security forces in Trinkot, provincial capital. Rahmatullah Sediqi, acting provincial chief of police, told reporters that a clearing operation has been launched over the past few days to crack down on Taliban insurgents. He added that 10 Taliban militants have been killed and a prominent commander named Mardan Hainake was arrested. He added that Hardo-Trinkot highway was also opened to traffic as result of the operation. Taliban militants are yet to comment on the statement.
