Local officials in Sar-e-Pul province said that Afghan security forces targeted and destroyed Taleban’s bases and hideouts in Mirza Olang area of Sayad district last night. Zabiullah Amani, spokesman for Sar-e-Pul governor, said that Taleban suffered heavy casualties during Afghan security forces’ operations. Meanwhile security officials in north of the country reported that six prominent Taleban commanders along with 53 fighters were killed in Ghormach district of Faryab province. A press release from Shaheen 209 Corps stated that Taleban insurgents suffered heavy casualties in clashes with Afghan security forces in Ghormach district. Ghormach district had reportedly fallen to Taleban yesterday but security forces launched coordinated operations to retake the district. Taleban militants are yet to comment on both incidents.
