Afghan President Ashraf Ghani telephoned Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to congratulate him on assuming office yesterday evening. Abbasi thanked President Ghani and said that Pakistan will work together with Afghanistan to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the region. According to Pakistani media, Ghani expressed satisfaction over the smooth transition and said that it was good for democracy in Pakistan. Both leaders resolved to work together to address the challenge of energy in the region and improve the economic conditions in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
