National Directorate of Security (NDS) reported that ammonium nitrate weighing 16,500 kilogrammes was seized in Kabul city. A press release from NDS stated that a trailer that had been loaded with explosives was discovered and seized in the vicinity of PD 9th. The statement added that the ammonium nitrate had been skillfully concealed in the trailer in Mardan area of Pakistan under ‘chicken food’. The statement further stated that the ammonium nitrate, which is used in making IEDs, landmines and suicide vests for explosions and terrorist attacks, was bagged in 50-kg sacks. Five suspects were also nabbed in connection with the smuggling by NDS personnel. It identified four of the detainees as Naseer Ahmad, Aziz Ahmad, Hazrat Umar and Umari.
