President Ashraf Ghani, leading a high-level delegation, went to Herat yesterday evening to meet families of those who were killed and wounded in last week’s bombing at the Jawadia Mosque in Bekr Abad area in Herat city. Ghani expressed his condolences and sympathy to the families. Martyrs’ families asked Ghani to ensure security of religious places and mosques and punish those who have neglected their duties. At least 29 people were killed and over 60 injured when a suicide bomber first opened fire on worshippers inside the mosque and then detonated explosives strapped on his body.
