Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and US Vice President Mike Pence discussed the 4-year security plan of Afghan government and other issues of mutual interest via a video conference yesterday evening. A press release from ARG (Presidential Palace) stated that both sides talked on various topics, in particular, the four-year security plan, developments in the Afghan security sector, reform plans for fighting corruption, efforts to combat terrorism and build stability in the region. The statement added that Pence said the government of Afghanistan has made significant achievements, with the advancement of major responsibilities in various sectors during the last two and a half years and that these efforts are admirable. The statement quoting Pence stated that the people and government of the United States will support Afghans and the Afghan government to achieve peace, stability and development. Ghani also appreciated the assistance and support of the United States for different sectors in Afghanistan.
