Local officials in Kunduz said that the Kunduz-Takhar highway was reopened for traffic yesterday after remaining closed for six days. Rahim Kohdamani, public order police chief in Kunduz, said that the operation to clear the highway was launched yesterday morning. He added that security forces were able to clear the highway of rebels and restore traffic flow. He further stated that three insurgents were killed and two injured. Earlier, Amruddin Wali, head of the provincial council, accused security officials of unwillingness to launch an offensive against insurgents to retake lost areas and clear the highway of the rebels.
