Local officials in Nuristan said that of 225 schools in the province only 40 have buildings and students have to study in open space. Mohammad Amin Hamad, head of provincial education department, said that armed anti-government groups have torched seven schools over the past few years and have closed two schools. He blamed former education officials for incompetency and stated that it has been a month since he is in charge. He urged Ministry of Education (MoE) to give priority for construction of schools across the province. Meanwhile provincial council of Nuristan also blames provincial education officials for incompetency and carelessness.
