Local officials in Herat said that Taleban insurgents suffered heavy casualties in Afghan national defence and security forces’ (ANDSF) operations in parts of the province. A press release from Herat governor’s office stated that the operations were conducted in Dolorg, Cheshma, and Samlan villages of Shendand district yesterday. The statement added that 43 Taleban insurgents were killed and 36 injured. The statement further stated that Mullah Najib, a prominent Taleban commander, was also injured. “More than 150 Taleban insurgents were killed over the past ten days in the province,” the statement reads. Taleban militants are yet to comment on the statement.
