The Independent Election Commission (IEC) said that they will use ‘modern technology’ in the upcoming parliamentary election in the country. The commission, however, did not provide further details. A press release from ARG (Presidential Palace) stated that President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah discussed use of modern technology in the upcoming election with cabinet ministers, officials of IEC, electronic National Identity Card (e-NIC) officials, Poly Technique University lecturers, and international donors yesterday evening. The statement added that IEC and e-NIC department were instructed to use their upmost capacity and capabilities for holding of the election. The statement further stated that IEC and Ministry of Finance were also instructed to discuss the financial aspects of election with international donors. Meanwhile international allies also stressed that election is an intra-Afghan process and they fully support Afghan government for holding a transparent election.
