Afghan Forces Recapture Helmand’s Nawa

Local officials in Helmand confirmed that Afghan security forces recaptured Nawa district of Helmand from Taleban. Omar Zowak, spokesman for Helmand governor, said that the operation was conducted by Afghan security forces and air support by foreign troops. Zowak added that Afghan security forces have captured a compound named ‘Mamoryat Aynak’ in the centre of the district. He further stated that the operation was led by Afghan commandos and support from police forces. There were no reports of casualties among Afghan security forces or Taleban. Taleban militants are yet to comment on the incident.
