Afghan Girls Robotic Team to Participate Competition in US Tomorrow

A team of six Afghan girls will participate at international robotics tournament in US tomorrow. Their visas applications had been rejected twice to travel to the United States and contest in the competition. US Department of Homeland Security Spokesman David Lapan said the US Citizenship and Immigration Services approved a Department of State request for six girls from the war-torn country to be allowed in, along with their chaperone, so they can participate in the competition. Lida, one of the six Afghan participant of the competition, said that we are so happy that the embassy issued visas for us. She added that twice ejection of our visas sparked international reactions. It was reported that they were ultimately able to security entry to US through intervention of US President Donald Trump. First Global, a not-for-profit charity, holds the annual international robotics challenge in hopes of sparking a passion for science and technology among high school students around the world. It is an “Olympics”-style competition in which one team from every nation is invited to participate. It takes place July 16-18 in Washington, D.C.
