Security officials in Uruzgan reported that a military operation codenamed ‘Khangar 7’ has been launched to crack down on armed anti-government groups in the province. They said that the operation was launched yesterday and some areas were cleared of Taleban insurgents. Gen. Rahmatullah Sediqqi, chief of Uruzgan police, told Killid that the operation started from Tapa Shah Manssor and some villages were totally cleared of insurgents. He stressed that Afghan security forces have dealt a heavy blow to the Taleban insurgents but the exact figure is yet to be known. Taleban militants are yet to comment on the incident.
