A visiting US senate delegation yesterday announced that Pakistan had agreed to participate in joint military operations against insurgents and terrorist groups on both sides of the Durand Line under the US supervision. A press release from ARG (Presidential Palace) stated that the delegation met with President Ashraf Ghani and discussed expansion in bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism. The statement added that regional issues were also discussed at the meeting. The statement further stated that Ghani praised American support for Afghanistan and said that Afghanistan’s relations with US were based on mutual interest and respect. Ghani told the delegation that the ongoing war in Afghanistan was not its own but it had been imposed on the country from outside.
