Afghan President Ashraf Ghani instructed security institutions to fully investigate Tuesday night’s clashes between Afghan security forces and protesters, and identify and punish the perpetrators. Security forces tried to dismantle tents of protesters. Uprising for Change Movement claims two of their members were killed and over 27 injured when security forces opened fire on them. Meanwhile a press release from ARG (Presidential Palace) stated that Ghani expressed deep concern over the incident and once again reiterated that peaceful demonstrations are the rights of all citizens. Protesters have been holding a sit-in demonstration in the city since early this month in protest against the lack of security in the country following the May 31 truck bombing in Kabul that killed over 150 people.
