Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said that it was the legitimate right of citizens to legally protest but seriously disrupting traffic and causing traffic jams was not acceptable. A press release from ARG (presidential Palace) stated that Ghani met with administrative board of Wolesi Jirga (lower house of parliament) yesterday evening. The board pointed out that protests were the legitimate right of citizens but the tented camps in Kabul city were creating lots of problems for citizens and the issue must be addressed soon. The statement added that Ghani has had consultation meetings with different groups of people over the past few days and most people have complained about tented camps on the side of roads, which have caused serious disruptions in Kabul’s traffic. The statement further stated that traders and shopkeepers also complained that they have suffered financially over the past few weeks. The board said that they had meetings with the Uprising for Change Movement and the issue will soon be solved.
