The Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) warned local officials including governors to avoid divisive statements in the media in order to avoid disunity among people. A press release from IDLG appealed to governors, deputy governors, mayors, members of provincial council, and spokesman for governors to strictly avoid media statements that create tension and division among people. The statement added that IDLG tries to promote an atmosphere of peace, strengthening unity and equality among people through gatherings, local and social media. The statement further stated that local officials as representatives of the central government must try to work at strengthening solidarity and government among people.
