Senior Afghan and Pakistani generals discussed military issues, ways to tackle ISIS, and other military coordination and cooperation issues. A press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that Gen. Habib, operation commander of Afghan defence ministry, and Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza, representative of the Pakistan defence minister, discussed security measures along the Durand Line and also the ways to curb violations and extremism. The statement added that adopting stringent measures against ISIS militants was also discussed. The statement further stated that both sides agreed to enhance the frequency of bilateral interactions at multiple tiers “through different command and staff channels to foster an environment of mutual respect, trust, cordiality and cooperation”.
