OIC and Saudi Arabia Condemn Attack on Afghan Army Base in Balkh

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the attack on Shaheen 209 Military Corps in Balkh, which resulted in the death and injury of hundreds of people. A press release from the embassy of Saudi Arabia in Kabul extended condolences to the government and people of Afghanistan and wished those who were injured a swift recovery. Saudi Arabia once again reaffirmed its long and continued support to Afghanistan. Meanwhile OIC Secretary General Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen described the attack, in a press release, as a cowardly and barbaric act, stating: “The war that the Afghan government is waging against terror would not relent.” Al-Othaimeen hailed the ongoing efforts of the Afghan government to unite people, despite the horrifying and unfortunate incidents that were committed in order to destabilise the country and create chaos. Taleban claimed credit for the attack.
