President Ashraf Ghani’s dismissal of Ahmad Zia Massoud, special envoy for reforms and good governance, has been questioned by a number of government officials and influential figures. Ata Mohammad Noor, governor of Balkh, asked Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah to clarify the reasons for Massoud’s dismissal. Soon after Massoud’s dismissal was announced by ARG (presidential palace), Noor wrote on his Facebook page that Zia Massoud is deputy of Jamiat party and thus was appointed to the post through influence of the party with Abdullah. Though Massoud has not officially commented on his removal, officials at his office said that he will officially confirm the news via a press conference today in Kabul. Massoud was fired from his position following a presidential decree yesterday evening for incompetency
