Ahmad Zia Massoud, President Ashraf Ghani’s special envoy for reforms and good governance, lashed out over his removal at a press conference today. President Ghani fired Massoud yesterday evening for incompetency. Massoud addressed a press conference today stating that the president does not have the right to dismiss him and urged the president to withdraw his dismissal decree. Massoud warned of political instability and civil war in the country should his dismissal not be retracted. He further stated that he has asked all his patrons to be patient and will announce his final decision soon . Ata Mohammad Noor, governor of Balkh, has asked Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah to clarify the reasons for Massoud’s dismissal.
