Local officials in Badakhshan said that work on a 20-km road in Draym district began in yesterday in the presence of Members of Parliament and local officials. Ahmad Faisal Bigzad, governor of Badakhshan, told Killid that the project will cost a total of some 78 million Afs which will be provided by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development. The road construction work that includes digging, gravelling, construction of retaining walls, bridges, and culverts will be completed and the road opened within a year by a private construction company. Draym district is 48 km from Faizabad, provincial capital of Badakhshan, and covers 70 villages with a population of more than 65,000 people.
