Conflict Stops Polio Immunisation in 4 Nangarhar districts

At least 15,000 children were unable to be immunised for polio in four districts of Nangarhar. Moqadasa Meraj, director of provincial health department, said that while vaccinators were able to reach more than one million children under the age of five in the eastern zone of the country and 694,000 children in Nangarhar., 15,000 children were left out in Haska Mina, Kot, Achin, and Pacheragam districts due to insecurity. Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nigeria are the only countries where polio is still prevalent.
