Security officials in Ghazni said that 16 people including five civilians were killed or injured in fighting and mortar shell fire by Taleban in Gera and Andarab districts. Fahim Amarkhail, spokesman for Ghazni police, said the fighting between Afghan security forces and Taleban insurgents resulted in the killing of at least three Taleban insurgents and injuries to one local policeman and two Taleban insurgents. Amarkhail added that Taleban fired three mortar shells after the conflict in which two women were killed and three others including a child were injured. Meanwhile Zabiullah Mujahid, a so-called Taleban spokesman, said that three policemen were killed and two others were injured in the clash with the group. Mujahid claimed that Afghan security forces fired three mortar shells on Ghondavi area of Andarab district in which four civilian including two women and two children were killed and three other children were injured, a claim which has been rejected by Ghazni security officials. Meanwhile five Taleban insurgents were killed in a mine explosion in parts of Gero district. A press release from Ghazni police stated that the incident happened late yesterday when Taleban wanted to plant a mine in a road. Taleban militants have not commented on the statement yet.
