Afghan border police prevented Pakistani military from establishing a security check post in Angor Ada of Paktika. Security personnel in Barmal district speaking on condition of anonymity said that Pakistani border police had brought all necessary equipment to set up the check posts and both sides had taken position in their trenches. Meanwhile Mer Zaman, a resident of Barmal district, said that people in the district were ready to stand behind the security forces if need be to defend Afghan soil. Security and local officials have not officially commented on the issue. Pakistani military forces had also established a gate and other military installations in Afghan soil last year but handed the facilities over to Afghan security forces in June, 2016.
