Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said that his country would stand by Afghanistan in the international war against terrorism as a strategic partner. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani discussed the issue with his Australian counterpart yesterday evening in Canberra, capital of Australia. A press release from ARG (presidential palace) stated that Turnbull praised the Afghan government’s efforts at fighting the menace of terrorism, corruption and bringing reforms to government departments. President Ghani said that terrorism is a threat to regional and other countries and asserted that there was need for a joint international fight against it. Both sides also signed a memorandum of understanding for development partnership worth 320 million USD.
