The process of repatriating Afghan refugees from Pakistan will resume today after four months of delay. Duniya Aslam Khan, a spokesman for United Nationals High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Pakistan, said that all the necessary measures have been taken for the return of Afghan refugees from Pakistan. He added that in the first two months, only registered refugees can repatriate to Afghanistan. Meanwhile officials at the Afghan Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said that the only problem they face is financial constraint. Hafiz Ahmad Mia khail, press advisor at Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, said that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) increased its financial aid from 200 USD to 400 USD for each returnee but this year they said that they will decrease the aid as they cannot afford it. According to the figures of Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, 130,000 registered and some 50,000 unregistered Afghan refugees are living in Pakistan. This comes as more than 600,000Afghan refugees returned from Pakistan in 2016.
