Officials at the Ministry of Water and Energy said that two Indian companies have shown interest in implementing the Central Asian-South Asian (CASA) 1000 power project. Deputy Minister Amanullah Ghalib said that based on the schedule, the procurement process must be finished by the end of 2017 and the practical work on the project is supposed to begin in 2018. He added that the project was approved by the World Bank and regional countries and the project will be signed with one of the Indian companies. According to the reports, the total cost of the project is more than 1 billion USD, 400 million of which will be paid by Afghan government. CASA 1000 project is one of the biggest power transit projects in the entire region.
