Russia asked Taleban to recognise the Afghan Constitution and cut ties with the Daesh, Al-Qaeda and other terror groups. Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement yesterday stating that Russia’s contacts with the Afghan Taleban are aimed at persuading them to join the political process of settling the situation in the country. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry statement, “The Russian side is being charged with the supply of weapons of war, financing the activities of this extremist organisation and even assisting in the establishment of training camps for militants on the Afghan territory. Needless to say, all these accusations are not supported by any evidence.” The statement further stated that attempts to make Afghan society and the global community believe that Russia has been disrupting international counterterrorism efforts in Afghanistan, seems to be part of a staged campaign aimed at discrediting our country. Earlier Afghan National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar said that Taleban and Daesh are not opposed of each other and have a joint source of funding and support.
