Officials at Afghanistan Independent Election Commission (IEC) said that they will convene a gathering today with leaders of national unity government and international allies to determine an exact date for parliamentary election. Najibullah Ahmadzai, head of IEC, said that we hope to reach an agreement on the exact date of parliamentary election in today’s gathering. He further stated that today’s meeting will be attended by leaders of national unity government, Second Vice President Sarwar Danesh, Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi, and representatives of some of the embassies in Kabul. The meeting was scheduled to be held last Wednesday, but a deadly suicide attack in a military hospital in Kabul delayed the meeting.
