Ghani Orders Armed Opposition, Drug Traffickers be Crushed

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said that more efforts should be done to destroy the safe havens of the armed opposition, and provide security to people. A press release from Presidential Palace (ARG) stated that President Ghani evaluated the security situation in four provinces yesterday evening. The statement added that he conferred via video with governors of Kunduz, Helmand, Farah, Kandahar and also commanders of 205,207,215 Pamir Corps. Security and local officials assured the president that they are fully prepared to defend the territorial integrity of the country. The press release stated President Ghani has instructed security officials to repress armed anti-government groups that are killing innocent people. The president further stated that people who are active and involved in drug trafficking should be eliminated.
