The Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) dismissed Abdul Satar Barez, former governor of Baghlan and appointed Abdul Hai Nemati as the new governor. A press release from IDLG sent to Killid stated that the new appointment was made based on IDLG’s decision and an approval President Ashraf Ghani. Nemati was President Ghani’s advisor in the fight against drug since the formation of National Unity Government (NGU). IDLG did not comment on dismissal of Abdul Satar Barez, however, sources said that he was removed due to negligence in providing security, lack of leadership, and fall of Tala and Barfak district to Taleban insurgents. This comes as President Ghani dismissed chief of Baghlan police, Noor Habib Gulbahari, and replaced him with Gen. Ekram Sareh earlier.
