Officials in the Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock department of Kandahar prohibited the import of poultry meat from Pakistan. They said that tens of poultry farms are operational in Kandahar that can meet the demands of the province. Hafizullah Saidee, head of agriculture, irrigation, and livestock department, told Killid that 30 tonnes of fresh meat from the farms are offered to the markets on a daily basis. Meanwhile officials at the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, said that poultry farms have increased in the country and investments have also increased in this sector. Earlier Herat governor had also banned import of poultry meat to protect poultry farms in the province.
