Taleban militants confirmed death of Mullah Abdul Salam, Taleban shadow governor in Kunduz, today. A press release from Zabiullah Mujahid, a so- called Taleban spokesman, sent to media stated that Mullah Salam was killed in a US airstrikes in Dasht-e-Archi district of Kunduz yesterday. The statement added that the group’s activities will not be affected with Salam’s loss. Mullah Abdul Salam was a key Taleban commander and shadow governor of Kunduz who played a key role in Kunduz’s war against Afghan security forces. Sher Aziz Kamawal, commander of 808 Spenzar Zone in northeastern parts of the country, had confirmed Salam’s death yesterday. Kunduz is among the relatively disturbed provinces in Afghanistan which had fallen to Taleban militants several times in the past.
