MoI Denies Army Weapons Being Sold to Militants

Ministry of Interior Affairs (MoI) rejected reports of some officials selling weapons to armed anti-government groups. Some government officials including members of provincial councils of Balkh, Ghazni, and Helmand had said that some government officials have sold weapons meant for Afghan security forces to armed anti-government militants. Sediq Sediqi, spokesman for MoI, told Killid that all the reports in this regard are baseless and asserted that nobody in the security forces has committed this treachery. Sediqi warned that any one selling Afghan security forces’ weapons will be identified and punished. The spokesman further rejected Abdul Jabar Qahraman’s, operative commander of all security forces in Helmand, remarks to the media that military generals, ministers of defense and interior affairs, chiefs of National Security Directorates are involved in war in Helmand.
