Pakistan to Reopen Torkham Border Today

Afghanistan’s embassy officials in Islamabad said that Torkham border will partially be opened for passengers today.  Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal, Afghan ambassador in Islamabad, said that the border will be opened fully to all passengers within three or four days. He added that the border will be opened today partially for those Afghans who are having valid visa and passport and are going to Pakistan for medical treatment. Meanwhile Zakhilwal urged all the citiznes to avoid non-essential travels to Pakistan even after the reopening of the border.  Earlier Pakistan closed Torkham, Ghulam Khan, and Spinboldak border ports following a series of deadly attacks in Pakistan. Afghan government in reaction to Pakistan’s closure of the three border ports said that sealing of the borders is not the way of tackling terrorism and asserted for reopening of the routes through diplomatic efforts.
