Govt Declares Tuesday Public Holiday

Afghan government announced Tuesday a public holiday. A press release from Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, martyrs and Disabled sent to media stated that on the occasion of Soviet defeat and withdrawal from Afghanistan, Tuesday 26th of Dalwa in the Afghan calendar is a national wide holiday in Kabul and provinces.

Afghan government announced Tuesday as a public holiday. A press release from Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, martyrs and Disabled sent to media stated that on the occasion of Soviet defeat and withdrawal from Afghanistan, Tuesday (26th of Dalwa in the Afghan calendar) is a nation-wide holiday in Kabul and provinces. The statement added that all government institutions will be closed in Kabul and provinces on Tuesday. The then Soviet strong red army withdrew from Afghanistan after nine years of occupation on 15 February, 1989.
