Forty Percent Schools without Building in Logar

Forty percent of schools sans buildings in Logar province and students have to study in open space. Mohammad Shapoor Arab, provincial education department spokesman, said that 110 schools are without buildings in five districts, which constitutes 40 percent of schools across the province. He added that some 48,000 students study in open space under tents. Arab further stated that they have rented tens of houses and pay millions of Afs annually for rent. Meanwhile Kabir Haqmal, head of broadcasting department at education ministry, said that the education ministry has plan to construct buildings for all schools across the country and added that funds and time were needed for the project. Presently 307 schools including 15 seminaries and vocational and technical institutes function in the province. According to Ministry of Education (MoE), 150,000 students are currently enrolled at schools in Logar, 35,000 of whom are girls.
