President Ghani via a video conference yesterday evening instructed all military and civil officials of 34 provinces to jointly fight against drugs. Addressing the video conference, president Ghani reiterated that cultivation, production, processing, trafficking, and use of drugs is the core factor of poverty, insecurity, and other problem in the country and spotlighted that the revenues and profits goes to regional and international traffickers network. He asserted that urgent action must be taken to prevent it. According to him, under the National Action Plan to Combat Drug, drug cultivation should decrease five percent each year. He added that in the current year the concern bodies have prepared Poppy Eradication Program and it has been approved by National Directorate of Security (NDS). Meanwhile president Ghani commanded governors of Helmand, Badghis, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Uruzgan, Badakhshan, Farah, Nimroz, Ghor, Zabul, Faryab, Sar-e-Pol, Laghman, and Kunar to decrease this phenomenon through implementation of Poppy Eradication Program.
