Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appointed Lt Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa as the new army chief. He will succeed Gen Raheel Sharif on 29 of November. The army chief is a key position in Pakistan. Bajwa was serving as Inspector General of Training and Evaluation and has been elevated to the position of four-star general, the officials said. Control (LoC). Pakistan’s army has had a prominent role in the country’s politics since its independence in 1947. It has been responsible for three coups in the past. It is believed that the chief of the army has much more power than the prime minster in Pakistan.
