Dear hearers! As you know the people of our country faced with numerous problems and toils within three decades of war as their houses were demolished, they migrated from the country but within all these courses some organizations have been delivering the services to Afghan people, the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) is one of them

SAC is an independent, impartial and non-governmental organization working for Afghans in education, health, disabled rehabilitation, gender and human rights fields since 1980 supported by Swedish Development Office.

The SCA is implementing the projects in remote areas of Afghanistan to serve the people specifically in the field of improvement of mothers and children life.

Dr. Ahmad Khaled Fahim the assistant of programs implementation department told in an interview that SCA started its activities to support Afghans after Russian aggression in 1982 when Afghans needed emergencies aids, let us hear Mr.Fahim interview about activities that SCA accomplish:

SCA is providing facilities in cities and remote areas in sectors of education, health and rehabilitation of disabled beside this it has activity in capacity building and raising the knowledge level of human rights communities and civil societies.

Question: What was the goal that SCA started its activity in Afghanistan?

Answer: SAC started its activities first in Pakistan, but when the Russian troops left Afghanistan; Afghans needed much emergency assistance so the goal was only cooperation with Afghan people and to launch humanitarian, emergency and developmental assistances to Afghans.

Question: You mentioned your activities cover education, health and other fields could you give some more details about?

Answer: If I want to describe our activity in health, I can say that we are implementing basic health projects in four provinces of Maidan Wardak, Lagman, Sarpol and Samangan with cooperation of Afghan government as 1.8 million people benefit the mentioned project, we have also built clinics for mother and child health because many mothers and children die due to different illnesses so there is need for much work to be done, beside this we have provided training ground for mothers to support their and their children health as SCA has launched health awareness to 18000 women, we have also trained midwives in two provinces which will decrease the morality rate of mother and child; I want to detail the SCA activities in education sector as well, a number of 125000 children are taught by 3500 teachers in sample schools supported by SCA according to curriculum of ministry of education, the 52% of students are girls , the sample schools are active in areas that the schools did not exist, we have also facilitated mobile schools for nomad people; the rehabilitation of disabled is also filed of our activity, we provide artificial organs and moving tools and physiotherapy services  to disabled that this would be handed over to MOPH of Afghan  government,  we also educate the blinds by brill writing and reading, we train the disabled in crafts that they can work and solve their problems and participate in the community without any obstacle, so all these are the activities that SCA launch through help of people so that is the reason that SCA has had a good reputation and trust among all Afghans.

Question: Can you tell me what the plan of SCA is for future?

Answer:  We are implementing our three years plan which has been started in 2010 and would continue to 2013, this three years plan is the good continuation and quality improvement of our previous activities that we had in health, education and disabled in past.

As we told SCA has department of gender and human rights to raise the capacity of Afghans beside the education and health sectors, Mrs.Hila Barakzai the assistant of the mentioned department says:

Gender is a phenomenon that focuses on men and women contribution in the community, SCA has a number of 6000 personnel, as 19% of them are women, SCA wants to create equity between the men and women and provide ground of work for both, as Dr.Khaled Fahim told that SCA is working in four sectors so we have 36% women in sector of rehabilitation of disabled, we have 30% in health sector while 24% women are working in education sector in remote areas which is a big achievement of SCA because the people trust the SCA and let their women and girls to work in our projects, the women work in a comfortable sphere as kindergartens have been considered for their children as well in work places that enable them to work and study comfortably.

Question: Mrs.Hila: As SCA has a department of Human Rights, so does your department of human rights have any coordination with Afghanistan Human Rights Independents Commission or your works differs with them?

Answer: Our works differ with their works, because we work only in public awareness on people rights, we don’t supervision namely we give public awareness to men and women to know each other rights or make them understand that based on which rights they can work together because 50% of population are women and they should participate in improvement of the community.
