Dear hearers! Though our country was destroyed and the people faced with numerous problems within decades of war but they did not lose their aspiration as men and the women started to participate in rehabilitation and development of the country and brought many achievements to the country, Mrs. Muqdas Atalwala is of them.
Mrs.Atalwala has been working since her childhood with different organizations beside the studies to solve her family’s problems, she is working in Afghan Women Educational Center, she has gotten much success to Afghans specifically for Afghan women through delivery of indefatigable services and owns good popularity among the woman.
Ok! Dear friends now I would like draw your attention to her interview which states her success and developments, she would first give information about Afghan Women Educational Center.
Mrs.Atalwala: I have been working in Afghan Women Educational Center since 2010, the mentioned organization was established in 1991 in Lahore of Pakistan to prepare the ground for education and work for Afghan women specifically for Afghan widows and children, the organization was selling the materials prepared by the women in bazars and giving the money to women to repel their economic needs, the mentioned organization opened its central office in Kabul in 2002 and delivers services to women and children of 9 province as well as Kabul because the children cannot stay without their mothers.
I started work as peace trainer in Afghan Women Educational Center, and then I worked on other project as peace trainer that its goal was peace, I unified women of one province with women of other province to eliminate the discrimination, mistrust and fear among the people, at the end of the project we took all the participants of project to Kabul and held a conference for them, they were very happy because before they were fearing from each other due to effects that had remained from the wars, I have many good remembrances from their unification.
After this project I was in charge of another project that we could prepare ground of work for women who had responsibility of alimony provision for their families, we were able to train a number of 300 girls with high ages in subjects related to science subjects who had remained behind of education during Taliban, the girls that were more qualified were able to pass the promotion exam to be admitted in higher classes that were according to their ages, so all these were the works that I have accomplished with the mentioned organization, I am very happy that we were able to get the trust of men who don’t want the women work out of the home.
Question: As you mentioned the education so tell me about your educations and the place that you have studied in?
Answer: I have finished the school; I am gotten the licentiate degree in History and Philosophy, I have gotten my master degree in Education; I have finished on line studies on peace in American Peace Building Institute; I have gotten access to journalism through BBC radio and now I am in charge of Media and Gender Department in Afghan Women Educational Center I always try to encourage the women and girls to education because the education is a need for all specifically for the women.
Question: Who did encourage you to get so many studies?
Answer: My family specifically my mother encourages because as she was illiterate and the problem that she had endured due to literacy did not want us to face; I remember very well that my father and my uncles were against the education but the mother was not letting them to prevent us from education, she used to put on the burqa (veil) and she was following my small brother whether he was going to school or not? So I request the fathers and mothers to pay attention to education of their children.
Question: How can a woman be beneficial for the development of the community specifically an educated woman?
Answer: Let us assume a family, when the economic level a family is low with many consumers and less income , the brother and father are the breadwinners so it would be beneficial if two girls get educated in the mentioned family and can work and get the income, so if they gradually serve the people in this manner this will result the development and growth of the community as well.
Question: Some people believe that there is not any need for women to educate what is your view about?
Answer: That is right, some people think so but they must know as much as a woman can understand and help a woman the man cannot, when a man live in a remote area would he not be happy if a woman doctor treat his daughter or his wife, so I think all Afghans should think about and let the girls and women to get education and prepare education and work ground.
Question: Mrs.Atalwala! Can you tell what the secret of your success is?
Answer: The secret of my success is that I never fell fear from anything, you may know that some girls finish their lessons late in the university so they fear lest their family will not let again them to university, or they may feel tiredness and may say that they don’t have patience to continue the studies but I have message to all people specifically to women and girls that get rid of fear and show to all that they would not be loaded on others rather they can help others.
